Break in the wind

Welcome aboard the REEL BUSY and to our St. Lucie Inlet Fishing Report. We finally got a break in the wind and fished the morning bite yesterday. We found plenty of action and a few quality bites.

Kingfish, bonito and barracuda provided most of the action with a few dolphin and tuna bites in the mix. We caught a couple of gaffer dolphin about 10/12 pounds and pulled off a few more. The dolphin are pushing through in small packs and the dolphin fishing should continue to be good to excellent on most days.

There’s some big blackfin tuna pushing through in 150 to 180 feet of water. We’re only catching a few but there all 15 to 25 pounds.

The sailfish bite was hot earlier this month going 6 for 9 and a dismal 3 for 7 on our last trips before the hurricane but never had a sailfish bite yesterday.

Windy days and sporty seas have kept us at the dock for most of October but the fishing’s been good. We’ll be catching sailfish, dolphin, tuna, kingfish, bonito and hopefully wahoo or two. CALL Capt. Wayne Brodeur 772-341-6609    www.reelbusycharters.com
