The Winds of March

Welcome aboard the REEL BUSY and to our St. Lucie Inlet Fishing Report. The winds of March have kept us at the dock for most of the month and the dolphin fishing’s been a bit hit and miss so far.

Yesterday was a hit and we caught 17 dolphin, released 3 of them and jumped off a few more. Most of the dolphin were 5 or 6 pounds with 4 small gaffers of 7 or 8 pounds. The dolphin fishing will continue to improve this month and will be  consistently good in the coming weeks.

There’s been a few Blackfin Tuna scattered about but they haven’t begun stacking up on Push Button Hill as of yet. They usually start showing up in March and we’ll let you know when they do.

We had a screaming wahoo hooked up yesterday but pulled the hook on the trademark chargeback. The wahoo fishing is usually good this time of year from Jensen Beach to Jupiter especially around the full moons.

Sardines and Threadfins are finally starting to show up north of the inlet and you can expect plenty of bait around in the next week or so. As the bait shows up so will packs of cobia around the reefs and wrecks.
