Hello Fish Fans, The Dolphin bite’s been excellent this month for those of us that fish the deeper waters of the gulfstream. We’ve had one banner day in 650 feet of water but most days we’ve been over a thousand.
The dolphin pushing through this month have been bigger than they were last month. Most of the dolphin are 5 to 10 pounds and with a few gaffers of 12 to 15 pounds. Our best day last week was 21 dolphin of 5 to 15 pounds. Most of our charters last week were 1/2 days so we only fished the deeper waters of the gulfstream twice. We caught 14 dolphin and 7 blackfin tunas on one day and 21 dolphin on the other.
Closer to shore on our 1/2 days we caught kingfish, bonita, sailfish and blackfin tuna. The bottom fishing slowed to a crawl last week but there was plenty of action on the troll. It was a very slow pick this weekend for the Genuine Red Snapper but it’s open again next weekend and we’ll hope for the best.
The conditions look picture perfect the next few days for deep water fishing for dolphin so give us a call and let’s go catch’em. Catch you later, Capt. Wayne Brodeur, Reel Busy Charters 772-341-6609 www.reelbusycharters.com
