Full Report: |
The past six weeks’ fishing conditions for the Stuart off shore recreational angler can be summarized in one word - Brutal. On days when it was possible to get offshore, the probability of finding live bait was a crap shoot – here one day, gone the next. And, regardless, even when live bait was obtainable, fishing remained poor, a sailfish pick here, a dolphin pick there, some occasional bonito, kingfish, and cobia. Reports from both north and south inlets were not better.
The weekend conditions look ideal, however, to continue the quest. Hopefully, a Spring improvement will commence and, hopefully, the bait fish will return and stay for a while. Of the most recent reports, the fishing due east of the Inlet on out to Push Button, six and eight mile reefs from 55’ – 140’, and off the Loran Tower from 55’ – 250’ were equally productive for the fish called in.
