Off shore fishing is excellent and, hopefully, it will remain that way for the next several weeks. Anglers who ventured out this past week found all they wanted in the way of dolphin action in waters from 250’ – 900’ (straight out the inlet. Nice size, too - the photo shows Clint Symons' son, Richie, with his 24# catch he made in 700' (trolled ballyhoo). Kings remained in 50’ – 150’ (northeast of the inlet); sailfish were scattered amongst the schools of dolphin. Live and dead bait both are productive; planers and downriggers likewise. For the adventurers seeking night time activity, the calm seas are enabling swordfishing in deep water with good catches being reported. Finest Kind's recent tournament had 10 boats fshing, with eight legal size fish caught in a single night. |
